Frequently Asked Questions

  • The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We will discuss what brings you to therapy, review your goals, explore relevant history, and talk about what support may look like moving forward. My goal is to create a compassionate, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable showing up as yourself.

  • My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and collaborative. I integrate evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s individual needs, including EMDR, ACT, Polyvagal Theory, somatic work, and mindfulness-based.

  • I offer individual counseling for teens and adults, family counseling for teens and their parents, parent support sessions, and couples/relational therapy.

  • Please check the “Rates & Insurance” page to see if your insurance is listed or feel free to contact me via the contact page if you aren’t sure. I also offer private pay discounts, super bills, and reduced-fee options. I only accept private pay for couples/relational therapy.

  • Yes. I offer in-person, telehealth, and hybrid sessions for clients located in Idaho. I recommend that clients attend at least their first session in person if possible, though it is not required. Hybrid sessions allow flexibility to alternate between in-person and telehealth appointments depending on your schedule and needs.

  • Session frequency depends on your individual goals. I recommend that clients begin with weekly sessions to see results faster. We will adjust our sessions to biweekly, monthly, or as-needed as you start to make significant progress and transition out of counseling.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidenced-based psychotherapy that helps the brain process and heal from distressing or overwhelming experiences. Sometimes difficult experiences can feel “stuck” in the brain, causing ongoing anxiety, emotional distress, negative self-beliefs, or strong emotional reactions. EMDR helps the brain reprocess those experiences so they feel less overwhelming and easier to manage.

  • Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if this is your first experience with counseling. Therapy moves at your pace, and my goal is to help you feel safe, supported, and understood throughout the process.

  • Feeling ready for therapy means being willing to explore the parts of yourself that may feel stuck while remaining open to learning new patterns that support healing, growth, and self-understanding. You do not have to wait until things feel “bad enough” to seek support.

  • Getting started is simple. Reach out through the contact form to schedule a free 15 minute consultation. I’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way.
