Rates & Insurance

Summit Perspective Counseling is in network with the following insurance companies:

Risks and benefits of using insurance for mental health care:

  • A primary benefit is that it offers clients a lower out-of-pocket cost to ensure accessibility to counseling services.

  • A potential risk is that insurance members must meet the criteria for a mental health diagnosis for their counseling treatment to be covered. We will continue to discuss diagnostic criteria and potential implications if you decide to utilize your health insurance.

  • Summit Perspective Counseling is contractually required to collect any copay, coinsurance, or deductible amounts as determined by your insurance policy.

  • Coverage may be full or partial; however, reimbursement amounts cannot be predicted or guaranteed. If insurance declines to cover your visit(s) for any reason, you are responsible for the full fee for the service(s) rendered.

**Please note that Summit Perspective Counseling offers Couples Counseling on a private pay basis only and does not accept insurance for Couples Counseling services.

Cancellation & Attendance Policies

Cancellation Policy

In respect of our valuable therapeutic time together, I ask that if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment you contact me by 8 a.m. the day of your appointment. Failure to notify me that you need to cancel or reschedule by 8 a.m. the day of your appointment will result in a mandatory $100 fee.

  • Please note that health insurance plans do not cover missed appointments and it will be your responsibility to promptly pay the fee in full with your card on file.

After three no-shows, or late cancellations without appropriate notice, you will be discharged from services. If you are more than 15 minutes late, the session may be shortened or forfeited at my discretion. Rescheduling may be possible depending on availability.

Attendance Policy

Due to the high demand for mental health services in the Treasure Valley, and to respect our time together and those on the waitlist, all clients are expected to maintain a minimum attendance rate of 70% of scheduled sessions over two months.

  • For example, attending 6 out of 8 weekly sessions, or 3 out of 4 sessions over two months for biweekly sessions.

Additionally, if two or more consecutive sessions are missed without adequate notice, your regular time slot may be released. Please reach out if extenuating circumstances arise so we can discuss options. Failure to meet this attendance rate may result in termination of services. Planned absences such as vacations, when communicated in advance, will not count against this policy.

Sliding Scale/Reduced Fee

A limited number of sliding scale (reduced-fee) sessions are available. Reduced-fee slots are reserved to support access to mental health care for teens and adults in marginalized communities. The reduced fee is $100 per session. I understand that this may not be accessible for everyone; referrals to pre-licensed counselors offering services at a significantly lower fee are available upon request. In accordance with the No Surprises Act, you may ask your counselor to provide you with a Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected total cost of any non-emergency services.
